BAXT documents the lives of the Lithuanian Roma through Andrew Miksys's long-term photography project. Starting in 1999 during a Fulbright fellowship, the work captures a pivotal moment as Lithuania transitioned from Soviet rule to EU membership. The project records the demolition of Taboras, a Roma neighborhood in Vilnius, preserving homes and resident stories before their erasure. Miksys's artistic practice extends beyond photography into sculptural installations using materials from the documented sites, creating a multifaceted archive of cultural displacement and resilience.
