Corinne Vionnet began examining mass tourism and the widespread distribution of pictures in 2005. Paris Paris Paris builds on her previous project that brought her recognition. After exploring multiple destinations, the artist focused on one of the most photographed cities and discovered a plethora of locations and landmarks that fuel a continuous stream of images. The Swiss artist transforms the original material: standard snapshots of overpopulated spots that fuel social media. In her images, the substantial effort put into their development (combing through archives, crowdsourcing, and collage) is left unseen, prompting us to ponder our shared memories and tourist tendencies. Why do we always capture and share the same pictures?
