“The city has changed dramatically. It is turning into another Singapore with skywalks, loads of airconditioned malls, and Western-style coffee stalls. It’s easier now to buy a vanilla latte than a pad thai in the streets of the capital of Siam.”

    About the City Diaries
Peter Bialobrzeski's "City Diaries" is a long-term project launched in 2013, currently spanning 19 volumes that explore the essence of cities in the early 21st century. Bialobrzeski delves into how preconceptions of cities—shaped by prejudices, observations, and media—are reflected in specific images, highlighting the cultural nuances often obscured by globalization. His work, displaying a seemingly unbiased aesthetic, captures the political and social shifts in various locales, from Cairo's Arab Spring to Wolfsburg’s VW emissions scandal. Noted by Melanie Mühl in FAZ for the profound impact of these photographs, the series aims for a comparative urban analysis, consistent in format across all editions. Bialobrzeski, celebrated for his global exhibitions and accolades like the two World Press Photo Awards, continues to expand this collection, offering insight into cities from megacities to medium-sized towns.
