SOL BELA. "BEING THE ONLY BLACK PERSON CAN BE A CHALLENGE".
Cover: SOL BELA and her entourage: Jenny Tran, Alexia Swain, Debora Rodriguez Amador, and Fatou Cabo
It's been 8 years since we started this exciting adventure that is VEIN. It has not been and is not an easy path, let's not fool ourselves, but when we take stock, we can't help but be proud of having been able to prepare the ground for creating an independent and free space, away from the big corporations and groups, also away from fleeting trends, which come and go. In each issue, we like to seek out a theme that responds to the spirit of the moment, and without naming it explicitly, helps us continue weaving the narrative, sharing ideas, perspectives, ways of seeing and experiencing creativity. This time, we felt like talking about resistance, dissent, pushing boundaries, rebelling against this polarized world, to celebrate the nuances, critical thinking, dialogue, and thoughtful reflections.
